Friday = Things I Put On My Baby's Head

Sorry that we've been away for so long, but vacation called and we answered! We're back home and now it's busy trying to put everything away, laundry, and getting things back to normal, which means I have to cook dinner again...I miss vacation already! Just kidding, sort of, it is good to be home.

¡feliz cumpleaños!

To me!

Today was such a special birthday for me..."[l]et me count the ways":
  1. It's my second birthday as a wife
  1. It's my first birthday as a momma (can you believe Baby Girl didn't get me a present? She already owes me!)
  2. My favorite Ohio cousins and Aunt were out here visiting and spent the day with us
  3. I got to see a few of my girls from the youth group
  4. I got to spend the day at the beach, although we were underneath a pop-up tent so I'm not sure how much sun I really got, but at least my gringo family members were safe
  5. I got a $25 Starbucks card! WHOOHOO!
It was a really good day and I'm thanking God for this last year that just overflowed with so much love. Here's to another one!

This morning, just hanging out.

Baby Girl being well protected from sun & sand.

She's going to be just like her daddy...not loving the beach.

A Happy Birthday Present Idea

With only one income the only guaranteed shopping I get to do is grocery shopping, which isn't a bad thing since I love the kitchen; however, this means creativity needs to happen for other types of shopping.

Birthday shopping is not a must, but I like to give gifts when possible. Gma's (my mom) had her birthday a couple of weeks ago and I knew anything relating to Baby Girl as her present would be a winner. So, I decided to make something that had her face all over it. I came up with Baby Girl Magnets.

Baby Girl Magnets
What you need:
Tiny pictures (I used the "index card" you get when you order photos online)
Clear rocks
Mod Podge
Magnet strips

That's it! The best part about this project was that I already had everything with the exception of the magnets, but the roll I got was only $2 at Michael's. One thing I must say is that patience is key to this project. I started to panic after the a day had gone by and the glue still wasn't clear. It took a couple of days and maybe I used too much, but it did end up drying clear. Whew!

I also suggest putting the glue on the rock versus the picture. Then press the rock onto the picture, let sit to dry for a couple of days. The magnets I got are already sticky on the back so those just stick right onto the back of the picture.

The gift bag Baby Girl decorated.

Simple, easy, CHEAP!, and Gma loved it!

A WAY Too Early Quiet Moment

I've been up since 4:30 a.m. No bueno.

I've had this tight knot feeling at the top of my stomach. My stomach has been not happy this whole week. On Wednesday it (I) discovered food poisoning for the first time, which is just oh so much fun, and my stomach hasn't been the same since. There's a picture going around on Pinterest:
Right above the belly button, that's where my stomach has been hurting since yesterday. This picture drives me crazy because it doesn't just say "Shouldn't have had that third bowl of ice cream" or "Those ribs, yeah, they were bad" or "Playing paintball without padding was a stupid idea". No, right away it tells you that you're basically dying of something. So, what should I choose? Ulcer, Indigestion, Pancreatitis, Gallstones, of a hernia? Indigestion is the least of these so I'll pick that one for now. I'll let you know if I decide on another ailment later.

Moving on...other than the food poisoning lesson I learned this last week, I also learned another and that is, "Trust the Larger Story". There has just been some things happening within my little family unit and then then I received my monthly "Ransomed Heart" letter and that's exactly what it said:

"Trust the Larger Story" (John Eldredge).

So many things, events, tragedies, planned or unplanned happen in our lives. At one point I felt as if my life changed upon the changing of the hour BUT we can either let those things become your main focus, you can be engulfed in the drama, OR you can remember that despite any one thing that may occur YOU are still asked, invited even, to be part of a much larger story. It definitely puts life in perspective, gives it that push to keep moving forward, and softens the heart. Your heart, which is asked to love others even when they are doing the exact opposite to you. You can't have a loving heart if you're letting crisis determine your course.

One thing to remember about the Story is that there is the guaranteed happy ending. No worries on who prevails. We know the ending, "God wins!" as I've heard many pastors preach. The heartbreaks, tragedies, catastrophic events that felt endless - all that pain is gone. All those tears - gone. All that weakness - gone. All the hurt - gone. You have lived out your part in His Story and now, your ending, has you basking in His presence. You are now where you were originally meant to be this entire time.

...this was a longer post than usual. Thanks to those who kept on reading! I appreciate your time and if you would like click on that follow button to the side. It's fun to get to know others that way. Be back on Wednesday!

Wordy Wednesday

I like this word because it's definition is not what I think it should be...the sound of it is just so scary-movie sounding. There needs to be a horror movie with this word as the title and, I guess, if you got someone really clever to write it then the title could possibly make sense. Also, Pastor Husband used this word on Sunday, correctly...it was great!

an·tith·e·sis/anˈtiTHəsis/

Noun:
  1. A person or thing that is the direct opposite of someone or something else.
  2. A contrast or opposition between two things.
Synonyms:contrast - opposition - contradistinction

I think of scary movie maybe because it reminds me of "Maleficent", WHICH is going to be a movie next year! Heck yes!

A Quiet Sunday Morning Moment

For the first time Pastor Husband's alarm went off this morning and I actually knew what day it was and why the alarm was going off. It's nice to wake up and not be completely confused.

Ecclesiastes 5
Stand in Awe of God

1 Guard your steps when you go to the house of God. Go near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools, who do not know that they do wrong.
2 Do not be quick with your mouth,
do not be hasty in your heart
to utter anything before God.
God is in heaven
and you are on earth,
so let your words be few.
3 As a dream comes when there are many cares,
so the speech of a fool when there are many words.
4 When you make a vow to God, do not delay in fulfilling it. He has no pleasure in fools; fulfill your vow.5 It is better not to vow than to make a vow and not fulfill it.6 Do not let your mouth lead you into sin. And do not protest to the temple messenger, “My vow was a mistake.” Why should God be angry at what you say and destroy the work of your hands?
7 Much dreaming and many words are meaningless. Therefore stand in awe of God.

Super Bowl Dinner #2?6.8?

I got the touchdown sign from Pastor Husband tonight as we ate dinner. Basically, we just put everything on the grill and tadaa! we got an awesome, tasty dinner. I made the picture EXTRA large because it was EXTRA good tonight. I may have toasted the garlic and onions too long for the steak butter, but it still tasted just fine all melty all over the meat. Yum!

Corn, asparagus, green onions, and steak with some guacamole and garlic/green onion butter as toppings.
It was also really nice having a Saturday night family dinner. It's kind of hard to have a family dinner in our house. Schedules are hectic at times so it's nice when we can actually sit down together without having to wonder about the time or what's happening next. We just ate together, Baby Girl has her veggies, beans, plums and some guacamole, which made her very happy. She loves the stuff.

We managed to make dinner, eat, clean the kitchen, give Baby Girl her bath, feed and put her to bed, AND prep the crockpot for "supper" tomorrow after church. Hopefully, it comes out something like this: Italian Chicken. Thank you Crock-a-doodle-do Mom for some much needed inspiration. I'm hoping to be able to do this every Sunday. It'll make after church a lot easier and then everyone can be home on time, with a full belly, and ready for naps (Pastor Husband and Baby Girl HAVE to have their Sunday afternoon naps otherwise the whole rest of the day/night is shot).

One question...if I make supper does that mean I have to make dinner too?

Off Task

So, for some reason, I decided to get sick this week. My sinuses were overtaking my face and the only thing that felt good was a heating pad...on my face...while I slept with my mouth guard - now that is a pretty picture! - and yes, Pastor Husband still finds me irresistible. Anyway, only a few things have made me want to continue living and that is Baby Girl, who has just been a great mood these last few days (probably to make up for my sicky-attitude), Pastor Husband who has been taking great care of me and Baby Girl, my girls, and this amazing tumblr site:

Suri's Burn Book

I just absolutely love it and had to share. It's the dry-est of dry humor and I can't get enough of it! It reminds me of a book I had growing up Funny Insults and Snappy Put Downs. Yes, this is actually a children's book and should have been a warning sign to my parents. Ha, it actually makes me laugh now that I had that book. I'm working on heaving some of the piles of sarcasm out of my life because, as I tell my girls all the time, "sarcasm does not belong in relationships". It really doesn't. I've seen marriages end because of their sarcasm. It hurts some people (those who aren't smart enough to understand....ah! Sarcasm strikes again!). Sarcasm is also just empty and we're going to be judged for every empty word we say, which means I am in so much trouble!

I'm working on it. I'm working on it.

Wordy Wednesday

Today's "Wordy Wednesday" word comes from the dictionary of Pastor Husband. I found out recently that this is a trait of all pastors - they love to create their own words on a Sunday morning. Enjoy using this new word today!

Topness

top·ness/täp nes/

Adjective:
  1. To have reached the most extreme, highest point.
  2. To be at the top of the hierarchy without fear of removal or loss of position.
Synonyms:topness

Jesus had reached topness, yet humbled Himself and took on the appearance of man and was obedient to death.
